Weather warning graphic

Ireland is set to be hit by a ‘multi-weather hazard event’ with a Status Orange warning issued by Met Eireann for snow and ice for six counties, with significant snowfall expected.

The warning will be in effect from 5pm tomorrow (4 January) to 5pm on Sunday (5 January) for Limerick, Tipperary, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wicklow, and Clare.

A Status Yellow snow and ice warning has also been issued for Limerick, Tipperary, Leinster, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Clare, and Waterford and Connacht, from 5pm tomorrow (4 January) until 5pm on Sunday (5 January).

Currently, there are no plans to close either the Limerick or Thurles campuses. If a Status Red Alert is issued for either Limerick or Thurles the campus in that area will be closed for the duration of the alert.

We will continue to monitor the situation and will issue further notifications where appropriate. Please practice caution during the period of the weather warnings and continue to monitor www.met.ie.
