TOEFL Award for Doctoral Research in Language Assessment awarded to MIC Postgraduate Researcher
The 2025 Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Award for Doctoral Research in Language Assessment has been awarded to MIC Postgraduate Researcher, Mateus de Souza Miranda.
The TOEFL Grant for Doctoral Research in Language Assessment supports the timely completion of doctoral research in foreign or second language assessment. PhD candidates around the world working on dissertation research in language assessment are encouraged to apply. The dissertation research can focus on any language. The award value is $6,000.
Mateus is a PhD student on the Structured PhD in Applied Linguistics, under the supervision of Dr Anne O'Keeffe (Dept. of English Language & Literature and Prof. Michael McCarthy (University of Nottingham). His thesis is currently titled: Spoken grammar construction and pragmatic features across the Common European Framework of Reference: An interlanguage corpus study.
